Voters also need to know that three SuperPACs funded by a crypto billionaire and AI executives are flooding the airwaves in support of Alex Bores, who has an A rating from the Crypto lobby for being “Very Pro-Crypto”. The New York Times described him as an “intellectual engine…to enact progressive lawmaking.” There are a number of aspects of his vision that can each, on a standalone basis, demonstrate this (in order of importance): Micah has been opposed to the war in Iran since day one. Micah says: “Donald Trump’s war in Iran was wrong and reckless from the start: putting American troops at risk, causing the death of innocent civilians, and costing billions. Democrats haven’t fought back nearly hard enough. We should force a vote on this on the floor of the House of Representatives every day until Trump is forced to end the war.” Micah will fight to build more housing and protect tenants, so that people can afford to live and build their lives here. Micah says: “I am a proud New Yorker, and feel fortunate to be raising a family here. But that’s getting harder and harder every day. The median rent in Manhattan just crossed $5,000. We’ve got to fight hard to make sure that people can afford to live here and build a life here. The Federal government used to take an active role in this, and it needs to again.” That’s why Micah passed the largest affordable housing plan in history and took on bad landlords. It’s why he proposed and enacted New York’s first public revolving-loan fund to build mixed-income housing. In Congress, he’s got a plan to help young New Yorkers rent their first apartment, older New Yorkers stay in theirs, and build new middle-class housing. Micah Lasher will continue to fight for the city he loves with everything he’s got. Micah will fight for Medicare for All Micah says: “45,000 people die every year in America because they lack health insurance. More than a third of Americans skipped or delayed getting medical care because of costs. What I saw there shook me to my core — a city under occupation by our own government, civilians living in terror. This needs to end once and for all. We must abolish ICE.” When lawless ICE agents occupied Minnesota, Micah Lasher showed up. He protested, he supported local leaders, and he used his platform. He wrote legislation to rein in ICE in New York by banning ICE from our schools and hospitals and allowing New Yorkers to hold ICE agents legally accountable for the violation of civil rights. Unchecked data center construction across our country is causing utility costs to skyrocket and irreversible damage to our environment. That’s exactly what Micah Lasher, a child of this district and a New Yorker through and through, has spent his entire career doing. And it’s why voters can trust him to represent this district’s values, and protect it for generations to come.

As a parent of teenagers, Micah knows, first-hand, what it means to worry about where our kids will work in a rapidly changing economy, or whether they’ll have any shot of being able to afford to live in our expensive city. He’s crafted a new New Deal for this moment, one that would give Democrats a positive, forward-looking agenda to rally around:
FIRST JOB: A program of paid national service, in which every young person is guaranteed a meaningful first job in public service or a caring profession—with necessary training, a living wage, and healthcare.
FIRST HOME: Federal support to get every first-time homebuyer or renter over the hump of a down-payment or up-front rental costs (e.g. first/last months’ rent and security deposit).
FIRST YEAR OF PARENTING: New Federal paid family leave and a massive investment in childcare to ensure that every family can get through their first year of parenting without being crushed by the costs.
How do we pay for it? Fix a broken tax system, in which Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk have a true tax rate of less than 1%, and recover some of the billions in wealth that are being transferred from workers to tech companies and their executives.
Micah’s leadership on climate change including his leadership in the Attorney General’s office exposing Exxon Mobil’s climate lies in a first-in-the-nation action, his work passing legislation to unlock wind and solar projects in New York and co-sponsoring the NY HEAT Act to end fossil fuel dependency, and his commitment to reverse Trump policies that are hostile to environmental protection and the transition to green energy. That’s why he’s been endorsed by NY’s League of Conservation Voters.
Micah’s long record defending and advancing abortion rights in New York—especially his work as Governor Hochul’s Policy Director to protect abortion providers and patients in NYS after Roe v Wade was repealed.

Micah is an unapologetic progressive who protested ICE in Minneapolis while writing laws to protect our immigrant neighbors. Took on RFK Jr. over vaccines. Wrote legislation to end Citizens United. Led the fight over redistricting. The Democratic Party needs a progressive fighter like Micah Lasher, and so does New York. There’s an affordability crisis raging, and Micah Lasher knows the future of our city depends on solving it. Micah’s the progressive you can trust: he’s raised the minimum wage, built affordable housing, expanded childcare and knows we have a lot more work to do. In Congress, Micah will enact a first-job guarantee for young Americans, help middle-class families rent or buy their first apartment, and finally pass Medicare for All. The New York Times described him as an “intellectual engine…to enact progressive lawmaking.” There are a number of aspects of his vision that can each, on a standalone basis, demonstrate this (in order of importance): Micah has been opposed to the war in Iran since day one. Micah says: “Donald Trump’s war in Iran was wrong and reckless from the start: putting American troops at risk, causing the death of innocent civilians, and costing billions. Democrats haven’t fought back nearly hard enough. We should force a vote on this on the floor of the House of Representatives every day until Trump is forced to end the war.” Micah will fight to build more housing and protect tenants, so that people can afford to live and build their lives here. Micah says: “I am a proud New Yorker, and feel fortunate to be raising a family here. But that’s getting harder and harder every day. The median rent in Manhattan just crossed $5,000. We’ve got to fight hard to make sure that people can afford to live here and build a life here. The Federal government used to take an active role in this, and it needs to again.” That’s why Micah passed the largest affordable housing plan in history and took on bad landlords. It’s why he proposed and enacted New York’s first public revolving-loan fund to build mixed-income housing. In Congress, he’s got a plan to help young New Yorkers rent their first apartment, older New Yorkers stay in theirs, and build new middle-class housing. Micah Lasher will continue to fight for the city he loves with everything he’s got. Micah will fight for Medicare for All Micah says: “45,000 people die every year in America because they lack health insurance. More than a third of Americans skipped or delayed getting medical care because of costs. Insurance companies are making more than a trillion dollars a year while families are choosing between buying groceries and going to the doctor. This cannot continue. We need universal health care, and the answer is Medicare for All. It will make healthcare a human right and cut costs. I will lead the fight in the House to make it a reality.” Micah currently co-sponsors legislation to establish a single-payer healthcare system in New York. He helped expand healthcare coverage, took on RFK Jr. over vaccines, and helped rebuild the healthcare workforce after Covid. He supports Medicare for All because he believes healthcare is a human right, not a profit-generator for Big Pharma and insurance companies. He’s been on the frontlines of the fight to protect New Yorkers Medicaid and healthcare from Donald Trump’s cuts, and is committed to fixing a rigged system that leaves matters of life and death in the hands of CEOs and corrupt politicians. Micah will fight to abolish ICE Micah says, “I traveled to Minneapolis after the killing of Alex Pretti and Renee Good. What I saw there shook me to my core — a city under occupation by our own government, civilians living in terror. This needs to end once and for all. We must abolish ICE.” When lawless ICE agents occupied Minnesota, Micah Lasher showed up. He protested, he supported local leaders, and he used his platform. He wrote legislation to rein in ICE in New Yorkby banning ICE from our schools and hospitals and allowing New Yorkers to hold ICE agents legally accountable for the violation of civil rights. In Congress, Micah will abolish ICE to keep our neighbors safe, seek the prosecutions of Trump administration officials like Kristi Noem who directed ICE’s reign of terror, and fight for comprehensive immigration reform that focuses on helping new Americans become part of the fabric of our city and country. Micah will stand up to big tech. Micah says: “Big Tech companies have too much power over our economy — and, increasingly, our politicians. I’ll stand up to Big Tech every day I’m in Congress. I’ll fight for a moratorium on data center construction, real liability for social media companies and a ban on social media for kids, and strict regulation and oversight of AI.” Micah helped pass the SAFE for Kids Act, to protect kids from harmful algorithmic feeds on social media companies. Unchecked data center construction across our country is causing utility costs to skyrocket and irreversible damage to our environment. Micah co-sponsors New York State legislation to impose a moratorium on data center construction, and will fight for a national moratorium. Micah supports a ban on social media for kids under 16. Micah supports the repeal of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, the law that shields social media companies from liability for harm caused by their platforms. Micah supports Federal oversight of the development and release of high-powered artificial intelligence models, along with allowing states to enforce their own laws. All voters in City Council District 3 should read, and see on the go, that: Micah will be a champion for affordable housing, continuing the long tradition of our community that lives on today in places like Penn South and Manhattan Plaza. He’ll work to make sure we preserve the affordable housing we have and build more of it. Micah will be a powerful champion for the LGBTQ+ community in Congress. He has a long record of leadership on issues from organizing advocacy for marriage equality in NYS, to fighting to ensure access to healthcare for transgender New Yorkers, to helping enact NY’s Equal Rights Amendment. Micah will also fight to dramatically increase Federal investment in public housing — reversing decades of neglect that have created a $78 billion capital hole at NYCHA and a $300 million annual operating deficit. Voters should know, in clear and bold language and imagery, about the endorsements Micah has received, including from Congressmember Jerry Nadler, Congressmember Nydia Velazquez, Borough President Brad Hoylman-Sigal, State Senator Erik Bottcher, Assemblymember Deborah Glick, Councilmember Gale Brewer, and Councilmember Carl Wilson. It is also important to highlight, either in conjunction with other information or on its own, Micah’s commitment to the arts and people who work in the arts. He supports dramatically increasing Federal funding for the arts, ending Donald Trump’s assault on the NEA and the NEH, and will stand up for the thousands of residents of NY-12 who work in the arts.
